Chairman of Agriculture Development Trust, Baramati, Dr. Rajendra Pawar, along with KVK Baramati staff, visited ICAR-DGR on 20.03.22. Dr. C.S. Praharaj, Director,ICAR-DGR,Junagadg gave the welcome remarks, followed by detailed presentation by Dr. K.K. Pal, Principal Scientist on groundnut value addition, value chain, varieties developed under AICRPG for Maharashtra, Innovative technologies and biofertilizers developed by DGR.

Dr. Rajendra Pawar discussed about the groundnut cultivation scenario in Maharashtra and the constraints faced by farmers in its cultivation. He also mentioned about the role of KVKs in supporting the cause of groundnut cultivation in Baramati. He also explained that the competitive crops like cotton, soybean have taken into the area of groundnut in kharif, and low yields in rabi-summer are due to the harsh dry climatic conditions, without assured irrigation sources in the farmers fields. He also visited  experimental research field in DGR.

The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Dr. S. K. Bera, Principal Scientist, ICAR-DGR highlighting the support of ICAR-DGR for enhancing the farm incomes of groundnut farmers in Maharashtra.
